What we collect, what we don't, and what happens to it.

This website does not know who you are. It counts visits with Google Analytics, and uses Google Ads to see whether an advert led to a donation or a message — how that works, and what it does not do, is set out below. Our host, Cloudflare, also keeps a short-lived record of the requests it serves, and we read those counts in aggregate to see which pages get used and what is broken. None of it tells us who you are. Aid 4 Animals in Distress — NPO 214-400 — is responsible for the little that we do collect, which is set out below.

How we count visits

We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to see which pages are used, which animals people look at, and whether a message was sent or a donation made, and for how much. To do that, Google sets a cookie so that two page views can be counted as the same browser. Nothing you type into a form goes to Google, and we do not build lists of visitors or show you adverts on other sites because you were here.

Google processes this outside South Africa under its data-processing terms, and keeps the detailed records for two months. If you would rather not be counted, Google’s opt-out add-on stops it in your browser, or send us a message and say so.

When you send us a message

The enquiry forms on this site ask for your name, email address, phone number and message. We use them to reply to you and for nothing else. Giving them is voluntary — our phone and WhatsApp numbers are on the contact page if you would rather use those.

Messages are delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, acting on our instruction, and stay in our email for as long as we need them to answer you and keep a record. We have no mailing list, and we do not sell or share your details with anybody.

When you donate

The donation form asks only for an amount and how often — neither of which is information about you. Your card details are typed on PayFast’s own page, never on this site, so we never see them. Afterwards we can see what any organisation sees about a payment made to it: the amount and the date. The amount, and whether it is monthly, is also counted in the visit statistics above — never your name or your card.

Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to us using it. Just send us a message and say so. If you are unhappy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
