The application
Enquire about a specific animal, or tell us about your home and we will suggest who would suit it. Their foster family — the people who actually live with them — will talk you through what they are like day to day.
The home check
A volunteer visits before an adoption is finalised, mainly to see that fences and gates are secure. It is a conversation, not an inspection.
The fee
Every animal leaves sterilised, vaccinated and microchipped. That costs us closer to R3 000 each, so the R1 200 fee covers under half — donations cover the rest.

Ace… what words could possibly describe this boy? He’s affectionate, cuddly, adventurous and lazy, all rolled up into one big, good-looking boy — a real character who oozes confidence and is often found at the community book sale. Although he currently lives with other cats, he can be quite strong and playful, so he’d be best suited to a home where he’s the only cat. He’s not suited to a flat or apartment. Ace is over 2.5 years old and has been waiting for his forever home since he was just 8 weeks old.

Benson
Benson has been in foster care for 7 years, and in that time he’s done so well and come so very far. He adores people, adults and kids alike, and is happiest when he’s around them. Unfortunately, Benson was never properly leash socialised as a pup, so he can be leash reactive — purely out of fear and anxiety — but once he gets to know a dog and realises they’re not a threat, he’ll happily walk alongside them without issue. He’s great with puppies and has fostered alongside many over the years. It is high time that someone opened their heart and home to this misunderstood, constantly overlooked boy. Please give Benson a chance — he’s more than earned it.

Blue, the handsomest boy! A real character, he loves a cuddle (while suckling on his paws). He is highly social and needs to be homed with other cat siblings, as he’s very playful, talkative and food driven. He’s brought such joyful energy to his foster home and has even brought out the playful side of the resident adult cats. Blue has been waiting a few months now to be chosen by a family.

Dolores
Dolores is a young, happy teenage pup who is still learning her way in the world. She can be a little fearful of new people at first, but once she loves you, she loves you with all she has. She is great with cats and will happily both play with them and cuddle up with them. She goes to daycare twice a week, which has helped her confidence with other dogs grow exponentially. She also walks most nights with a big group of dogs in Tokai forest, where she’s best friends with all the dogs and their people — this has further boosted her confidence and helped develop her recall. Dolores will make an excellent addition to a family willing to give her the time she needs to settle in.

Dudley loves his walks and also loves going into the water for a swim. He loves sniffing out mice and other critters in the grass while out walking, and would make a great trail running or hiking mate too. He loves his food and any treats, and is learning to be good with his foster’s cat. He’s very alert and quick to bark at any disruption in the neighbourhood.

Frankie
Frankie is our longest foster cat — she’s been waiting 2.5 years to be adopted. She’s a feisty girl but full of love, and adores a good head scratch and bum scratch. She’s very playful, especially when it comes to chasing after dangly toys. Frankie is an independent kitty and not a cuddler, but she enjoys being in the same room as her humans, and she’s chatty too — talk to her and she’ll happily talk back. She takes a little time to warm up to new people. She gets along with Oliver the cat, though she’ll give him a firm whack if he gets too much for her, and she tolerates Nala the dog until Nala shows too much interest, at which point she gets a whack too. Frankie would be perfectly happy as an only cat.

Jasper
Jasper loves car rides, attention (he’ll happily lay on his back for tummy scratches), chasing squirrels, walks, and is good with other dogs. He doesn’t like having his food bowl removed or being interfered with while eating, and he doesn’t like having his tail pulled. He’s much better now about having his feet touched. He is very happy-go-lucky overall and very food motivated, and is happy to sleep on the bed or on the floor. Sometimes his ears turn into ornaments — especially when he’s called to come back into the yard after a stroll in the park!

Lola
Lola is a real lap cat who’s always curled up on your lap or under a blanket, and she loves company — she’ll always come find you, making her a great work companion too. She’ll eat pretty much anything, especially wet food, loves tunnels and games, and is very talkative. On the flip side, she can take some time and patience to integrate with other cats, so she’d likely be best suited as an only cat. She may also get a little grumpy if things don’t go her way. Being white with a pink nose means she’s more prone to sun-related skin risks, so she’s best suited to an indoor home. She’s also not shy about trying to sneak food off your plate if it catches her eye! Lola hasn’t yet been tested with dogs.

Lumi loves people, being at home and indoors, sleeping, children, and playing. Melon absolutely loves snuggles — she’ll happily burrow under the duvet and snuggle right into your chest, making her the perfect cosy companion. She’s talkative and loves her food, and has a lovely, affectionate nature to match. Melon does have the early stages of arthritis, which will progress over time, so she’d suit a home that can keep an eye on her comfort as she gets older — a bit of extra TLC in her golden years.
